Millhill Child & Family Development’s Behavioral Health Team with Executive Director Cynthia Oberkofler, 2019
TRENTON, NJ (March 30, 2021) –Princeton Area Community Foundation (The Community Foundation) awarded Millhill Child & Family Development COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Phase II funding in 2020 to support Millhill’s new tele-therapy services. Tele-therapy at Millhill has allowed critical behavioral health services to transition in a way that accommodates social distancing and protects clients’ health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the ramifications of the COVID-19 Pandemic continue to impact clients’ daily lives, the Community Foundation’s new wave of funding has made a significant impact on Millhill’s ability to continue and improve upon innovative mental health services that meet client needs. The Community Foundation’s support has allowed Millhill to address the health care disparity for individuals and families who are insurance and Medicaid-ineligible, expanding the range of clients to include many who might otherwise be unserved at this critical point in time.
Millhill is using a HIPAA-approved tele-therapy platform for therapists and clients to continue their individual, family, and group sessions. The platform can easily be accessed across devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops. Potential clients interested in receiving counseling care are still welcome to call Millhill during normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 9am-9pm at 609-989-7333. Though the facilities are closed, case managers are checking their voicemail regularly.
“The Community Foundation’s funding has been critical to Millhill’s ability to continue providing counseling services to Trenton families,” stated Cynthia Oberkofler, Executive Director at Millhill. “The Community Foundation is an incredible champion of Millhill. We are grateful for their support as we refine and enhance our mental health services in ways that protect our community and adhere to social distancing practices.”
Millhill’s Outpatient Clinic opened in 2008 to provide behavioral health services, which are received by over 500 children and their families each week. At Millhill, the clientele and their family work together with the staff to plan and implement treatment goals. Millhill employs only licensed clinicians as therapeutic staff and employs a board-certified psychiatrist and Advanced Practice Nurses to conduct psychiatric services as needed. Services include individual, family, and group counseling as well as psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring, and case management services. Millhill’s counseling services enhance life skills and encourage emotional development to maximize an individual’s functioning, strengths, and resources.
