Workforce Development Track:
- We recognize there are few options for rising 10th graders over the summer months. We offer an engaging 3-week program to support them in developing skills needed to be successful in the workplace.
- With hands-on exercises and guest speakers, we focus on areas such as teamwork, workplace professionalism, communication, and time-management.
- The program also focuses on resume writing, job search strategies, financial literacy, and other essential skills that prepare students for their future careers. We also support youth in the program with important life-skills training including mental wellness, healthy relationships, internet safety, and more.
- Each week youth participate in an enrichment trip, visiting a business, college, or other location important to the Trenton community learning about fields of interest and how to make their career aspirations a reality.
- Scholarship of up to $900 depending on attendance and participation
Employment Track:
-
- Youth ages 16-21 can participate in this track of the program, which provides real world work experience.
- Participants are matched with an employer based on their areas of interest and provided with a 6-week(180 hours), supportive experience.
- Opportunities include summer camps, libraries, museums, non-profit office settings, and more.
- Millhill staff provide site visits and support throughout the placement. This opportunity provides Trenton youth with early job experiences, developing skills such as organization, time-management, and communication, setting them up for future success in the workforce.
- Youth can earn up to $2720 during their placement.
Throughout the program, we invite guest speakers to provide insights into various industries and share their professional experiences. Our participants also have access to employment opportunities and are introduced to various job openings that align with their interests and goals.
We understand the importance of soft skills in the workforce, which is why we emphasize their development during the program. Our team works closely with students to enhance their communication skills, teamwork, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills.
The program also focuses on workplace development and life skills training, which includes resume writing, job search strategies, financial literacy, and other essential skills that prepare students for their future careers.
In addition, our program offers enrichment trips that provide participants with an opportunity to experience different career paths and gain exposure to various industries. These trips help students explore different career options and give them a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in different professions.
The Summer Youth Employment Program is an excellent opportunity for high school students to develop their professional skills, gain real-world work experience, and explore different career paths.
