A very good friend to Millhill, Joe Saphire, has passed away. For those of you who may not know him, he was a Millhill board member for nearly 40 years. While that in itself is fairly remarkable, he also served as the Chair of our Corporate Board and President of our Foundation Board. These roles tell only a very small part of the story as Joe used his talents as an architect and his incredible passion and love for Millhill for the betterment of the community we serve. Joe is everywhere at Millhill. If you work at 802 Prospect or use the services we provide there or visit the facility, Joe designed the space from a gutted warehouse to the facility it is today. If you happen to use the conference room at 101 Oakland, Joe created the space in honor of our past Executive Director, Steve Rosen, whom he supported in his role as Chairman of the Board. If you have been around long enough, you know that we had infants in Building C and Joe turned that space from a garage into classrooms and offices and was in the process of developing a plan to renovate it into counseling space.
Joe never missed an opportunity to attend a staff holiday party, a recognition event or any other Millhill event. He brought his entire staff and their families to MISSION POSSIBLE and made it a resounding success just because he was there. He painted classrooms and helped build playgrounds. He shared his love for Millhill with everyone he met and brought new friends and partners to Millhill because he was just so proud of being part of Millhill. Millhill is what it is today because Joe Saphire was here.
Millhill enriches the well-being of children and families through individualized culturally sensitive, educational and behavioral health services.
