Millhill Child & Family Development Receives Three-Year Grant from Princeton Area Community Foundation Fund for Women & Girls for Female Trenton PEERS
TRENTON, NJ (January 23, 2017) – Millhill Child & Family Development recently received a three year grant from the Princeton Area Community Foundation Fund for Women & Girls to support the Female Trenton PEERS Empowerment and Education Program. The program empowers teenage girls in Trenton to fulfill their potential by providing them with support to achieve academic success and develop their leadership skills.
“We are excited to partner with the Fund for Women & Girls to prepare and nurture confident girls who are ready to join the next generation of professional women,” explains Jigna Rao, Associate Director of Youth Services.
Millhill Child & Family Development Female PEERS Empowerment and Education program is a peer education and weekly support group for teens. It provides intensive mentoring and leadership development including educational coaching, college tours and access to counseling service. The girls in PEERS receive 24/7 support from their female staff mentor. The teens also work in small groups to develop presentations on subjects ranging from bullying to violence prevention and then present their programs to more than 2,000 Trenton youth.
