TRENTON, NJ (November 1, 2017) – Millhill Child & Family Development recently received a grant from TD Charitable Foundation to support the Trenton PEERS and Trenton Area Stakeholders programs. This is the second year the TD Charitable Foundation is supporting our Youth Services programs providing support for our Summer Youth Employment program last summer.
The Trenton PEERS (Performing, Educating, and Engaging about Responsible Strategies) is a year-round peer education, mentoring and support group made up of two mixed gender teams of young adults, ages 13 – 18. The goal of the program is to empower the Trenton PEERS to realize their potential by providing year round life skills education, leadership training, and college preparation in a supportive environment. The PEERS serve as positive role models in their community and provide potentially life-saving presentations to hundreds of adolescent peers in Trenton.
“The Trenton PEERS are truly ecstatic about the investment TD Charitable Foundation has made to one of our most celebrated youth development programs. Their contribution will help expand the programming and opportunities our teenagers can be exposed,” explains Michelle Thompkins, Associate Director of Youth Services.
Trenton Area Stakeholders (TAS) is comprised primarily of leaders from organizations throughout Mercer County that provide an array of services to or are committed to improving the lives of underserved youth and families. There are more than 900 TAS members that represent more than 300 organizations in Mercer County and throughout the state. TAS is stewarded by Millhill and provides an ongoing forum to foster collaborations and the necessary dialogue to strengthen Greater Trenton.
