TRENTON, N.J. (July 6, 2020) – Millhill Child & Family Development (Millhill) is pleased to announce a grant award from the Horizon Foundation of Maine to provide support for Millhill’s newly established tele-therapy program. Horizon Foundation funding has been vital during the COVID-19 crisis, helping Millhill continue serving clients during this time of great uncertainty. Tele-therapy at Millhill has allowed critical behavioral health services to transition in a way that accommodates social distancing and protects clients’ health during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The Horizon Foundation of Maine has been a committed supporter of Millhill, and we are incredibly grateful for their generous and timely support,” said Cynthia Oberkofler, Executive Director at Millhill. “Their funding greatly aided our transition to tele-therapy services during this critical time, allowing us to continue offering one of our key health services.”
Millhill’s Outpatient Clinic opened in 2008 to provide behavioral health services, which are received by over 500 children and their families each week. At Millhill, the clients and their family work together with the staff to plan and implement treatment goals. Millhill employs only licensed clinicians as therapeutic staff. Additionally, Millhill employs a board-certified psychiatrist and Advanced Practice Nurses to conduct psychiatric services. Millhill offers individual, family, and group counseling as well as psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring, and case management services. Millhill’s counseling services enhance life skills and encourage emotional development to maximize an individual’s functioning, strengths, and resources.
Millhill is using a HIPAA-approved tele-therapy platform for therapists and clients to continue their individual, family, and group sessions. The platform can easily be accessed across devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops. Psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring, and new referrals resumed during the week of April 13, 2020.
Counseling services through Millhill are covered by Medicaid and are available to anyone with active Medicaid coverage between the ages of 4 and 65 years old. Potential clients interested in receiving counseling care are welcome to call during Millhill’s normal hours of operation, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at 609-989-7333. Though the facilities are closed, case managers are checking their voicemail regularly.
Millhill’s behavioral health clinic is committed to providing high-quality, client-centered services that bridge over potential barriers to mental health care and ultimately make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and adults in the Trenton community. “We are truly grateful to the Horizon Foundation of Maine for this important support, which enables us to continue serving and empowering families in Trenton during this difficult time,” said Oberkofler.
