TRENTON, NJ – The Wells Fargo Foundation has awarded Millhill Child & Family Development with a $5,000 grant in support of the Health Literacy Program. The program provides the necessary training and tools to help children and families overcome barriers and improve their health choices and activities.
“We are excited to receive support to continue and expand our health literacy program to help reduce health disparities in Greater Trenton,” Cynthia Oberkofler, executive director explains. “The grant will help educate and empower Millhill families to make healthy choices.”
The support of Wells Fargo will help Millhill offer Health Literacy Training that will provide easy access to quality developmental and behavioral health care screening along with public health interventions and health literacy education for approximately 1,500 people in the Greater Trenton community.
“Wells Fargo is pleased to support Millhill’s work to improve the health of children and families in Trenton,” said Sergio Iacovitto, Wells Fargo Wealth Advisor and Senior Vice President. “Health literacy is an important part of building a healthy and strong community and Wells Fargo is committed to strengthening our community.”
Wells Fargo employees support Millhill throughout the year by collecting supplies through Annual Donation Drives and by volunteering at a Day of Caring reading books and playing with children. Most recently, Wells Fargo employees collected arts and craft supplies for the preschool and toddler program.
Through the Health Literary program, Millhill aims to help families make positive food and nutrition choices and help parents and guardians plan and navigate healthcare appointments and treatment. The goal is to empower families to take active participation in healthcare-related planning and activities.
