The grant will fund health literacy and obesity education through health and nutrition instruction, engaging staff in health education and providing Millhill Medical Home Link and health screenings to children.
“Millhill is excited to continue our partnership with The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey to bring health literacy and obesity prevention to our children and families,” explains Cynthia Oberkofler, Executive Director.
Funding will enable Millhill to infuse health and nutrition education into the Therapeutic Intervention Parenting Program. Specific topics will include: nutritious foods, physical education, disease and obesity prevention what to expect during a doctor’s visit, trying new foods, and more.
Children will be engaged in Health Literacy through our Medical Home Link. Medical Home Link program that provides developmental and medical screening and services for critically underserved children from age two through age six. Millhill’s on-site neurodevelopmental pediatrician and registered nurse extensively examine, evaluate, and follow up with each at-risk child – most of whom would not otherwise be able to afford these extensive assessments – often referring for specific medical treatments for previously undiagnosed conditions.
