Family Development

Poverty can lead to risks at home, and most of Millhill Children live in poverty. The need for support for families with histories of abuse or neglect continues to grow. As we nurture the children, we provide comprehensive services to their families to help them develop a safe and supportive home environment.

All DYFS-referred children have comprehensive developmental screenings and referrals for medical and behavioral health. Home visits evaluate health and safety. Social service training focuses on violence prevention and family strengthening. Families participate in parenting and life skills classes and receive regular information on opportunities for jobs, education, and housing assistance.

Millhill offers every opportunity for families to break the cycles of abuse. We train parents, we support families, and we review their children’s Individual Service Plans every month to make sure no one slips through the cracks.
